My name is Carlos. I'm a musician originally from Brooklyn, NY. I went to Columbia University for a BA in music. My instrumental work has been performed by Blair McMillen, Counter Induction and Eric Huebner, among others. I'm in two bands - I sing and write the tunes in Ava Luna, and I play the drums in Casiorossi. Both of these bands are on Cooling Pie Records. I'm a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and basement audio engineer. Because of a busted wrist I sadly had to give up guitar. Palea by Ava Luna is the last guitar song I'll probably ever write. I'm a multicultural person, and as such, I find it difficult to subscribe to just one aesthetic, or one method of music-making. What I focus on instead are the details. I tend to be a meticulous arranger, often to a fault. Even though I work with electronic music and beatmaking, play in punk bands and have friends in the Brooklyn DIY scene, my roots are in classical composition and, thanks to my family, classic soul, R&B and gospel. I spent one summer in Taipei, Taiwan, and five months in Beijing, China where I took lessons on the Pipa and the Guzheng.
